Doctors of the Church Faculty/Student Lunch Seminars
Doctores Ecclesiae Faculty/Student Lunch Seminar Series:
Join us for a friendly gathering of students and faculty as we take a closer or perhaps first look at a Doctor of the Church or some other great teacher who aided the Church in Her thinking. Prior experience is not required, and first-year students and advanced graduate and professional students regularly participate along with a changing set of University faculty. Space, however, is limited, so reservations are strongly suggested. A set of short readings for each lunch seminar will be posted to serve as a focal point for our discussion. If you haven't participated in one of these (free!) faculty/student lunch seminars, don't be bashful: simply email the Institute at: This email address is being protected from spambots. Back-to-School Catholic Novel Discussion
Evelyn Waugh, Brideshead Revisited (1945)
For the start of this unusual semester, Brideshead Revisited is our Catholic Novel pick. Waugh's classic novel invites us to savor the golden back-to-school days at pre-war Oxford, the unforgettable summers with the alluring Catholic Flyte family, and the subtle “twitches of the thread” of Grace in life's painful events.
July 22, 2020: Summer Catholic Novel Discussion
Natalia Fenollera, The Awakening of Miss Prim (2013)
RSVP to Dr. Jocelyn Moore (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) and we'll send you the Zoom link invitation. (UVA students: we'll buy and Amazon you the book).
