Welcome back UVA Students! This Fall (2020), the St. Anselm Institute for Catholic Thought is offering two free, non-credit, and faculty-led minicourses for interested UVA students regardless of their study area. The selected readings are short, and there are no papers, quizzes or exams. Prior expertise is not expected, but space in our September Zoom meetings is limited, so registration is requested. The goal of our two Fall minicourses is to provide an introduction to essential ideas of the Catholic intellectual tradition that hopefully nurtures a more mature understanding and appreciation of their history and substance. It is no secret that many within secular universities like UVA believe that authentic faith commitments, especially Catholic ones, require a deep partitioning and privatization from one's intellectual and professional pursuits. If this doesn’t ring true or you’d simply like to ponder it with other students and faculty, then join us for an exposure to something beyond the standard narrative.
