A well deserved congratulations to one of our very own . . .
Fr. Augustine Thompson, O.P. (Religious Studies) for receiving the Dominican Order's Sacrae Theologiae Magister (Master of Sacred Theology) degree in a ceremony in Oakland, CA on November 15, 2008. This academic honor was first awarded by Pope Benedict XI in 1303 to acknowledge the scholarly credentials of those teaching theology.
Fr. Augustine wore his newly awarded four-cornered black biretta, which STM honorees have the privilege of wearing, to the May 2009 Baccalaureate Mass for all graduating students at St. Thomas Aquinas Parish.
The St. Anselm Institute wishes Fr. Augustine all the best in his new position at the Studium of the Western Dominican Province House of Studies in California.
